This issue of The Orthodox Word features a biography of Bishop Nicholas (Ziorov), who served as the Russian Orthodox bishop in America during the last years of the nineteenth century. Little has hitherto been written in English about this fervent missionary and keen observer of American life of that period. Several fellow laborers in Christ’s field, who worked under his guidance, have since been glorified as saints of the Orthodox Church: St. Sebastian Dabovich, St. Alexis Toth, St. Raphael Hawaweeny, and New Hieromartyrs Anatole (Kamensky), John Kochurov, and Alexander Khotovitsky.
